WAREHAM – Prosecutors have dismissed charges against 63-year-old Michael McCarthy in connection with shooting his son in the shoulder in August at his Mattapoisett home.The charges against McCarthy - assault and battery by discharging a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building and assault and battery on a household member – were nol prossed by the state in Wareham District Court on Sept. 29, meaning they will not go forward with prosecution.
